The Molten Kraken is a lava-veined giant octopus with a towering basalt mantle like a volcano, a molten caldera at its summit, one huge molten eye under angry brows and eight long arms with glowing suckers and white-hot tips. It is the boss of Storm & Ember Waters. It takes its turn as the harbor boss south of the harbor, and captains can summon it to its lair near the harbor with a Storm & Ember sigil. It stays close to the middle of its arena while its tentacles rise around the boats.

Its tentacles wrap every captain on a deck and drag them toward the water: grab the glowing tip and yank it to pull yourself free. It also rains lava from the vents on its sides, leaving glowing pools on the water, and sweeps and rams boats like every boss. Its lava blobs ooze up your hull, leaving glowing smears behind them; knock them off with your rod. Its weak points are the knot on its forehead, which cracks open as you reel, both flanks of its mantle and an armour plate on each arm. When it surfaces and holds still, climb the rock holds from its front arms up its head and mantle and drop a bomb into the caldera.
