Not a fish at all, this giant clam has heavy fluted shells that close along a bold zig-zag lip glowing aqua. The upper shell is crusted with growing aqua crystals, and it always rests slightly open, so a big faceted crystal pearl peeks out from an electric-blue spotted mantle. It sits on the bed of the Shell Banks behind a trail of bubbles, and hauling it up is a slow, heavy pull.

How to catch it
Section titled “How to catch it”- Look for rising bubbles: they mark a hotspot where Crystal Clam and its kind bite more often.
- The weather doesn’t change how often it bites.
- When it fights back it mostly dives. Slow your reeling down without stopping, then reel it in while it rests.
