The signature catch of the Shell Banks is a crimson hermit crab sitting in a giant ornate spiral shell like a throne. The shell’s ivory whorls are banded in royal purple and coral with gold ribs, and its gold rim is crowned with tall spikes, each holding a glowing sea-glass gem. It peers out on long eyestalks with one huge gold-studded crusher claw at the ready, leaves bubble trails over the sandbanks, and pulls with heavy, stubborn weight.
