Is Reel free?
Section titled “Is Reel free?”Yes. Reel is free to play. You can buy Crowns, the paid currency, and there’s a one-time starter pack and an optional monthly Captain’s Pass subscription, but every rod and boat upgrade sold in the harbor can be bought with coins you earn by playing. Which headsets can play it?
Section titled “Which headsets can play it?”Reel is made for Meta Quest 2, Quest 3 and Quest 3S.
What ages is Reel for?
Section titled “What ages is Reel for?”Reel is for players aged 13 and up.
How many players are in a room?
Section titled “How many players are in a room?”Up to ten captains share a lobby, with the same harbor, sea, weather and fish signs.
Can I play alone?
Section titled “Can I play alone?”All play is online, in lobbies. You start in a public lobby, and you can switch to a public lobby or to a lobby with a code of your choice at the lobby station on the harbor plaza. See Lobbies, voice and safety.
How do I play with my friends?
Section titled “How do I play with my friends?”Agree on a lobby code, then all type it at the lobby station on the plaza and press JOIN. Once you’re together, friends can ride on your boat and fish from it. See Boats and riding.
Can I trade?
Section titled “Can I trade?”Only pets can be traded, face to face at the Trading Post table in the harbor. Fish, eggs, treasure, rods, boats, cosmetics, coins and Crowns can’t be traded. See Trading.
What are Crowns?
Section titled “What are Crowns?”Crowns are Reel’s paid currency. You buy them in packs at the Crown mound on the harbor plaza, and you earn a few by playing. They buy cosmetics, store boat skins, extra pet slots and rod upgrades. Crowns never buy eggs, chests or keys. See Crowns and the store.
Is there voice chat?
Section titled “Is there voice chat?”Yes. Voice chat is by proximity: you hear the captains near you, louder the closer they are. Turn your mic on or off with the mic button on the Lobby page or in Settings, and mute any captain’s voice from the Lobby page. See Lobbies, voice and safety.
How do I report someone?
Section titled “How do I report someone?”Open the captain’s log, go to the Lobby page, pick the captain and choose REPORT A PROBLEM. You can also press Report in Meta’s own menu while the game is running, and pick the captain from the list. You can mute or block a captain from the same page.
Do I lose a fish’s record when I sell it?
Section titled “Do I lose a fish’s record when I sell it?”No. Your catch booklet keeps every species you’ve caught, the sizes and auras you’ve found, and your largest-ever fish, even after you sell or feed it. You can bring out your record fish with SHOW LARGEST at any time. See The fishbowl and selling.
Why can’t I fish here?
Section titled “Why can’t I fish here?”Every water needs a boat that can fish it. Your boat starts in the Sheltered Bay; buy the Reef, Storm and Outer Passages at the Stables to fish farther regions, or ride with a captain whose boat already can. See Fishing.
Where did my boat go?
Section titled “Where did my boat go?”On land, your boat shrinks into a little pet that follows you. Carry it to the water and toss it in to sail again. See Boats and riding.
How do I get a pet?
Section titled “How do I get a pet?”Pets hatch from eggs. Your first catch gives you a free starter egg: take it to the egg opener in the Egg House to hatch it. See Pets and Eggs.
Can I play left-handed?
Section titled “Can I play left-handed?”Yes. Press X instead of A to take your rod out in your left hand, or change it any time in Settings › ROD HAND. The whole game mirrors for you. See Controls.
What happens if I stay in the water too long?
Section titled “What happens if I stay in the water too long?”You can only swim for a limited time. A ring counts down the last seconds, then the view fades to black and you’re returned to the harbor.
