Bait and lures
Bait and lures go on your hook to change what bites and how quickly. Both are sold for coins on the shelves of the Bait Shop in the harbor, a pack at a time, and each cast uses one. Sea Grub is the free starter bait and is always ready. The other baits get stronger and pricier from Reef to Storm to Abyss: each adds catch luck, which makes rarer fish and auras more likely, brings bites faster, and draws in a certain group of fish, most strongly in its own part of the sea or time of day.
Lures are named, hand-made tackle with a look and effects of their own. Each has its own luck and one special perk, such as faster bites at night or in storms, bigger fish, or better odds of an aura. Lures don’t draw in a group of fish the way bait does: the perk is their twist. You fish with either a lure or a bait on each cast, never both. Pick what goes on your line in the captain’s log, under GEAR and then BAIT and LURES.
| Lure | What it does |
|---|---|
| Glow Grub | Glows in the dark: bites come faster at night. |
| Spinner Spoon | Flashes in the sun: bites come faster in clear weather. |
| Popper Frog | Splashes on the surface: fish that leap and fight near the top (darting and surging fish) bite more. |
| Shrimp Fly | Many quick bites: bites come faster in any weather. |
| Squid Jig | Heavy and deep: bigger fish bite (a size boost like a small crowd frenzy). |
| Storm Spinner | Crackles in bad weather: bites come faster in rain and storms. |
| Ember Fly | Rarer Storm & Ember fish bite in the Storm waters. |
| Crystal Minnow | Refracts light: better odds of a Shimmer, Glow or Radiant aura. |
| Abyss Lantern | A glowing bulb for the dark: better luck at night and in the Outer waters. |
| Starfall Jig | The luckiest lure: the best rarity odds anywhere. |
