Forget the balloon: this puffer looks like a living boulder, with mossy slate rock plates bristling with swept-back ivory spines. Bronze rings circle its tough little eyes, and an ivory beak sits ready to crush shells. It hangs around the Kelpwood’s rocky beds, gives itself away with bubble trails, and fights like a dead weight that would rather dive than run.

- The weather doesn’t change how often it bites.
- When it fights back it mostly dives. Slow your reeling down without stopping, then reel it in while it rests.
