Trading
In Reel you can trade pets, and nothing else. Fish, eggs, treasure, keys, gems, rods, boats and boat skins, saddles and reins, cosmetics, coins and Crowns can’t be traded.
Trades happen face to face at the Trading Post in the harbor. Both captains must offer at least one pet.
The trade table
Section titled “The trade table”The table in the middle of the Trading Post is low, so you can sit on the floor cushion on your side. Each captain has their own half of the table, with a row of spots for pets in front of them and a small console at their edge. The console has:
- a lock lever;
- a green ✓ button;
- a red ✗ button right beside it;
- a countdown dial.
Your whole side of the table lights up in a colour that shows where your half of the trade stands, so you can read the trade at a glance.
Making a trade
Section titled “Making a trade”- Each captain sits at one side of the table. A board springs up between you.
- Press PETS on the board and tap the pets you want to offer to put them on your spots. CLEAR empties your spots.
- When your offer is ready, pull your lock lever.
- Once both sides are locked, your board lists the other captain’s pets with everything that comes with them, so you can check them before you agree.
- If you are happy, press your green ✓.
- When both captains have pressed green, a short countdown runs. When it ends, the pets swap.
Press the red ✗ at any time before the countdown ends to cancel. Both levers spring back and the pets stay on the spots, so you can change the offer and try again.
If anything about an offer changes after you lock (a pet is added, removed, fed or grows), both locks and confirms are cleared and the other captain sees that the offer changed. You always agree to exactly what you inspected.
What comes with a traded pet
Section titled “What comes with a traded pet”A pet keeps its species, aura, look, growth stage, experience and perks when it changes hands.
Some things belong to your account and stay with you:
- your pet slots;
- the accessory your pet was wearing;
- your pet index entries (the other captain gains the species in theirs).
You can trade your active pet or a companion. If you give away your active pet, the first pet you receive takes its place. Because both sides must offer a pet, you always finish a trade with at least one.
Good to know
Section titled “Good to know”- A trade can be refused if it would leave either captain with more pets than they can keep.
- Pets that came from the store can’t be traded until a while after you get them.
- A pet can only be in one trade at a time.
- You can’t switch lobbies while you are at a trade table.
