Long glassy needle fangs jut from the gaping underbite of the Shadowjaw, a sleek, near-black dragonfish lit by rows of violet lights down each flank. A magenta light glows behind each eye, and a violet lure dangles from a barbel under its chin. It is the signature catch of the Darkwater Trench, and fins cutting the dark water are the best sign that one is close. Hooked, it surges off to the side in strong bursts.

How to catch it
Section titled “How to catch it”- Look for fins cutting the surface: they mark a hotspot where Shadowjaw and its kind bite more often.
- The weather doesn’t change how often it bites.
- When it fights back it mostly runs to the side. Slow your reeling down without stopping, then reel it in while it rests.
