At first glance it is just a squat lump of red volcanic rock, pitted with crevices that glow with magma underneath. Then it raises a crest of venom spines burning molten orange to white-hot tips and spreads huge spiked fan fins edged in lava. The Magma Scorpionfish sits among the vents of the Cinder Sea, where steam rising off the surface gives it away. For something so lumpy, it fights quickly, darting from side to side.

How to catch it
Section titled “How to catch it”- Look for steam over the water: they mark a hotspot where Magma Scorpionfish and its kind bite more often.
- The weather doesn’t change how often it bites.
- When it fights back it mostly runs to the side. Slow your reeling down without stopping, then reel it in while it rests.
