Signature fish

Every water has one signature fish, a creature that belongs to that water and shows what it’s about: a flatfish hiding in the sand of the Sunlit Shallows, a pufferfish that puffs smoke in the Cinder Sea, a see-through Ghostfish in the Whisperdeep Abyss. Its own water is the place to fish for it; anywhere else in the region it turns up only rarely.

Signature fish get rarer the farther out they live. Those of the Sheltered Bay and Coral Reach are Uncommon or Rare, those of Storm & Ember Waters Rare or Epic, and those of the near Outer waters Epic. The three far waters’ signature fish are Legendary and bite only inside their island rings.
