Spotter

Propped up on big fan-shaped pectoral fins like a bulldog on its front legs, this stubby bottom-dweller is speckled in sand-and-pebble camouflage. Turret eyes bulge from the top of its broad, blunt head, a jutting underbite shows two little tusks, and it raises an orange-edged spiny dorsal like a flag, with electric-blue dashes on its cheeks. It is one of the most common fish in the Sunlit Shallows, and bubble trails give its hiding spots away.

  • Look for rising bubbles: they mark a hotspot where Pebble Goby and its kind bite more often.
  • The weather doesn’t change how often it bites.
  • When it fights back it mostly runs to the side. Slow your reeling down without stopping, then reel it in while it rests.

A Pebble Goby can hatch from a Common Bay Egg. As a pet its perk is Spotter. See Pets and Eggs.
